    First Data Protection Act fines issued by commissioner – Is it enough?

    Sheffield-based employment advisory organisation A4e was fined £60,000 for losing an unencrypted laptop with the details of thousands of people.

    Commissioner Christopher Graham was granted the authority, back in April 2010, to serve financial penalties up to £500,000 for data protection breaches yet this is the first time any penalty of this nature has been imposed..
